PARALYMPIC ATHLETICS
Having taken up sport at an early age, she won her first medals competing for the ASD Atletica Grosseto club in para athletics at the Italian Championships with a bronze medal in the 100 metres and a silver in the long jump.
She became a member of the Sports Division of the Italian Finance Police (known as the "Fiamme Gialle") and set a world record in the 100 metres at the Dubai Grand Prix. The crowning glory came at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, where she won gold in the 100 metres, leading her team mates, Martina Caironi and Monica Contrafatto, to a historic clean sweep for Italy.
Together with Oxana Corso, Luigi Beggiato, Giacomo Bertagnolli and Martina Caironi, she was among the first paralympic athletes to have been contracted by an Institutional Sports Federation, becoming part of the "Fiamme Gialle". She also broke the world record in the 200 metres in the same year.
At the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, she triumphed in the 100 metres, breaking the world record again. This year, she will be the flag bearer for the Italian contingent at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
