FLORENCE, 17th October 2022 – A prestigious baton handover is taking place at the Fair Play Menarini International Award Jury. After years of commitment, success and gratification, Angelo Morelli, founder of the event in 1997, is handing over the presidency of the Jury to General Vincenzo Parrinello, a prominent figure on the Italian and international sports scene, with over 45 years of experience behind him. His extensive career, which began as a coach, manager and councillor of the Volleyball League Serie A, was consolidated within the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) where, until last June, he held the position of Commander of all the “Gruppi Sportivi Fiamme Gialle” (Sports Groups of the Fiamme Gialle).

“I am particularly honoured to take on a role as important and crucial as that of President of the Jury of the Fair Play Menarini International Award,” declared General Vincenzo Parrinello. “It is a task I will approach with dedication and responsibility, putting my experience at the service of what I consider, if not the best, then one of the most significant sports awards of our time, both for the messages it promotes and for the prestige of its roll of honour. I would also like to thank the outgoing President, Angelo Morelli, for the valuable work he has performed to date, reassured by the fact that he will continue to be an integral part of the Prize team.”

Over the years, General Parrinello has shown his support for the values promoted by the Fair Play Menarini International Award, with which he has initiated a fruitful collaboration that has also resulted in the establishment of the “Study and Sport Fiamme Gialle” Special Award dedicated to the younger generations of athletes. His commitment to sport, which has always been oriented towards ethics and respect for the rules, will therefore represent an added value for the Menarini Fair Play Jury and for the work that will be carried out in view of the upcoming edition of the Award.

“We would like to thank General Parrinello for his commitment in taking on the role of President of the Jury, certain that his many years of knowledge of the world of sport at every level can certainly foster further growth of the Award”, explains Antonello Biscini, President of the Fair Play Menarini Foundation, “We also wish to express our deepest gratitude to Angelo Morelli for the passion and competence with which he has given life and impetus to an event which, throughout its history, has been able to reap success and acclaim by promoting fair play as an example to be followed also in the civil society”.
