Simone ANZANI

After making a name for himself in his first few Serie A1 matches, he was called up to the senior national team and, a year later, won a gold medal at the Mediterranean Games.

He won his first league title with Perugia during a triumphant season in which he also clinched the Italian Volleyball Cup and Italian Super Cup. After playing for Modena, he joined AS Volley Lube in 2019. Over the next five seasons with the Marche-based team, he won one Club World Cup, two Italian Cups, and two league titles.

He won the European Championship with Italy coached by Fefè De Giorgi, beating Slovenia in the final. The following year, he helped Italy win the World Championship in Poland, cementing his status as one of the national team’s leaders and a symbol of the resurgence of Italian volleyball.

At the end of a season during which he won yet another gold medal at the World Championships in the Philippines and a silver medal at the Volleyball Nations League, he announced his retirement from the national team, having made 211 appearances for Italy.
