After starting out in downhill skiing, he swapped his skis for a career in athletics as a sprinter. In 2013, he won his first medal, a bronze in the 4×100 metre relay at the under 20 European Athletics Championships.
After winning various medals in youth categories, he came second in the 100 metres at the Italian Athletics Championships while the following year, he won another silver medal in the indoor event over a distance of 60 metres.
Together with Marcell Jacobs, Lorenzo Patta and Filippo Tortu, he won a silver medal in the 4×100 metre relay at the World Championships in Budapest. At the end of the year, he joined the Sports Division of the Carabinieri.
At the World Relays in Nassau, he was part of the Italian relay squad that made the final and earned qualification for the Paris Olympic Games.
