Daughter of international athletes Fiona May and Gianni Iapichino, at just sixteen years old, Larissa caught the attention of the public during the Italian National Indoor Championships in Agropoli with a long jump of 6.64 metres.
After repeating her personal best at the Italian Indoor Championships in Ancona, at the Junior Championships in Savona she achieved the second- best Italian women’s long jump ever, second only to her mother, and the fifth best world jump of the year, reaching 6.80 metres.
In 2021, she joined the Fiamme Gialle Sports Centre, a section of the Italian Guardia di Finanza Police Corps. At the Assoluti Indoor competition in Ancona, she achieved a jump of 6.91 metres, equalling the indoor record set by her mother Fiona May in 1998 and setting the new U20 world record.
After qualifying but not participating in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games, she won the European silver at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, setting a new Italian indoor record with a jump measuring 6.97 metres and improving on her own personal outdoor record at the Kallithea Meeting with a 6,83 metre jump.
