As a professional journalist, Jacopo Volpi started working at Rai on a permanent basis in 1987 where, in addition to taking on the role of correspondent for the 90º minuto (90th Minute) programme, he began following major volleyball matches as commentator, becoming the voice of the successful feats of the “Generation of Phenomena” led by Velasco.
He earned the position as director of La Domenica sportiva (Sport Sunday), the historic programme broadcast by Rai, at the helm of which he remained for four seasons between 2007 and 2022.
Jacopo inaugurates a series of programmes featuring major international sporting events, such as ‘Notti Europee’ (European Nights), ‘Notti Mondiali’ (World Nights) and a record 8 hour a day transmission on the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games and ‘Tokyo Best of’ during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
After a period at Rai 2 with a new format “A tutto calcio” (Only football), Jacopo takes over as Director of Rai Sport, where he had served as deputy director for a number of years.
