Having already achieved a number of successes among the ranks of the national team, Di Francisca’s talent skyrocketed at the World Cup in Paris where she won international recognition by winning a gold.

At the European Championships in Zagreb, she repeated her double success by earning a European gold medal in both the individual and team fencing events. In the same year, she took top place on the podium at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin and went on to win a bronze medal at the World Championships in Budapest.

After the birth of her first child, she returned to compete at the European Championships in Dusseldorf in a rematch with Russian fencer Deriglazova, who had beaten her in the final at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games, to collect her 5th European title.
