1984

At the age of 15 he joined the junior Italian gymnastics team, specializing in the rings.

1987

The first international triumph came at the Mediterranean Games in Latakia, where he won two gold medals and two silver medals. In 1989 he joined the Fire Brigade sports group, with which he would win a total of 6 consecutive Italian titles, the Mediterranean Games, 4 European titles and 5 world gold medals, becoming the first gymnast in history to win five consecutive world titles.

1996

The career of the “Lord of the Rings” reached its peak with the gold medal won at the Atlanta Olympic Games. After announcing his retirement, he won the Fair Play Menarini International Award in 1998.

2003

He returned to competition. At 34 years old, and after a long period of stop, he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens, closing a long career.
